Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, né le  à Compton en Californie, est un rappeur et parolier américain. Lamar lance sa carrière sous le nom de K-Dot, et publie une mixtape qui attirera l'attention et le fera signer au label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). Lamar gagne en popularité en 2010 après la publication de sa mixtape Overly Dedicated. L'année suivante, il publie Section.80, son premier album indépendant, exclusivement sur iTunes.
